Announcement
Expanded shop inventory and focus!! For a decade I have bought up thousands of beautiful handmade artisan components such as beads, pendants, charms and other hand-made or hand-altered design components for my own design use. Now that I find my creative efforts moving in a different direction, I'm cleaning out my drawers and old stock and am happy to offer you these rare and unique listings that I hope you can turn into something wonderful. Go straight to the DESTASH section: https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/ZephyrinesDream?ref=seller-platform-mcnav§ion_id=28331638
Or if you are after brass stampings check out this section: https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/ZephyrinesDream?ref=seller-platform-mcnav§ion_id=21357339
Note that raw brass pieces vary in colour as most are old and from different production runs. Choosing the antique patina or soldered bail option will ensure a consistent finish between pieces if you want items to match. Colour matching cannot be guaranteed with the raw brass option, even from the photos show as my stock varies from piece to piece and I choose randomly from my stock.
For silver plated brass stampings check out this section: https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/ZephyrinesDream?ref=seller-platform-mcnav§ion_id=27665340

4 out of 5 starsIt arrived looking a different colour to the photograph. I actually can't use it how I wanted to, which is a shame. Perhaps I can spray it - which wouldn't be difficult. Postage was quick.

Buyer chose 'raw brass' which always has variations in the colours as the items are genuine old brass (see shop policies for more info), with the patina of time....a consistent finish can be achieved with choosing the antique patina option which is only a small amount extra. Buyers should read the options and choose carefully to ensure they are making the right choice for their needs.

Frequently asked questions
Will the color of my item vary from what is seen in your shop?
Most likely there will be color variation between what is shown on your computer screen and what I see when I photograph the items for sale. There are many reasons for this variation, such as light conditions when photos are taken, settings of your screen and even how you see color. If a color match is critical to you please get in touch and I can give you more information about what to expect, though I cannot guarantee colour match with patina or raw brass finishes, even for the same pattern/design.
All pieces are brass though not all brass is equal - some has more copper than others. So across my entire range, brass can be bright gold, original patina (aged) and coppery brass.
Can I copy the pieces I buy from you?
No you can't.
The brass stampings I sell are copyright to the manufacturer. They own the designs and do not allow unauthorised replication. Please respect their legal registered design rights and not copy the items you buy via any means.
Any handmade supply or components I make for finished designs are copyright to me. I do not allow unauthorised reproduction, though I hope my designs will inspire your own creativity.
You may of course re-sell any items as-is, or make your own creations to sell to your customers.
Do you offer bulk quantities and wholesale discounts?
No, I don't offer discounts, sales or wholesale pricing. If a design has sold out I will see if I can get more in for you and usually there is a minimum quantity required for this special service, but otherwise this is what I sell - stampings for designers and collectors - and I keep my margins low from the beginning so they are accessible fro everyone.
Will the patina vary over time?
Yes, most likely the patina on your brass pieces will continue to darken over time. Some people like this, but for those who do not, you can brush it back with ultra fine steel wool. You can also seal the patina with renaissance wax or spray sealants.
Any pieces I add a patina to will also be sealed with an environmentally friendly spray sealant. This sealant can retard the progress of further patination, though it probably will not stop it entirely.
The best way to avoid disappointment due to item colours not meeting your expectations is to buy the raw brass version of any of my stampings. You are then free to make your own colourings and patinas to achieve your desired result.
Shipping - how long until I get my order?
All orders are shipped from Brisbane, Australia.
I generally require up to one week to make and/or pack up your order.
I try to ship twice a week if demand warrants it, otherwise I will ship once a week.
So it could be a week from the time you place your order until your package is shipped.
Then when it is posted the transit times around the globe will vary according to destination and shipping method, but usually 1-3 weeks to most parts of the world.
All orders are sent with tracking. Whilst this is a more expensive option, with the postal disruptions from the Covid pandemic tracked shipping is the best way to ensure your peace of mind and an optimal buying experience.
Why do you charge for adding a patina and soldered bails?
Adding a patina to a piece takes time, expertise and materials. I need to buy the patina, apply it, buff back the piece then repeat if I am not happy with the result.
When I solder on a bail, I also use materials, and time. This includes the handmade bail, solder, use of torch and gas, then adding the patina. I have invested nearly $1000 into a proper soldering set up, so this ensures you get the best result.
I prefer to solder a bail so that you don't have to punch holes in the pieces. It seems such a pity to damage the design with holes. I choose the most logical location for the bail.
You often have an option to buy a piece in raw brass if you prefer not to pay for the added touches. Please check individual listings for more details.
Shipping
All parcels are sent with tracked shipping. This ensures your peace of mind amidst the disruptions caused to postal services from the Covid pandemic.
Delivery times are delayed and the times quoted by Etsy are not accurate - please wait around a week to receive your parcel within Australia and a month (average) world-wide. This is indicative timing only.
Parcels with tracking may seem not to be moving while they are in transit - once they arrive in your home country the tracking will show as processed by the local facility. It can take a few weeks for international parcels to get updated tracking scans - do not panic - all parcels are arriving and you need to be patient. Express international options are available, albeit, expensive.
Why do you show the patina-treated item in the first photo?
When adding a patina to a raw brass stamping it allows me to fully highlight all of the detail in the design. Some pieces, depending on the natural patina and metal content, may not show their full beauty in the raw state. I process the piece with my own antique patina and then do further treatments in order to show you all the amazing detail in these high quality stampings.
Read each listing carefully to understand what the buying options offer you - raw brass, patina or with a soldered bail.
Are your stampings nickel and lead free? YES!
- All stampings sold in this store are Nickel and Lead free.
- Production of brass stampings is in accordance with ISO14001 (eco-friendly production).
- All pieces are made in brass, though depending on the copper content in the metal, some look more 'coppery' than others.
- All production is 100% made in France using original, antique tooling some of which dates back to 1840.
What is a soldered bail
A soldered bail is a brass ring (usually a few millimetres diameter) that is soldered onto the brass stamping to offer a permanent ring from which you can hang the item. By soldering the ring on it is a strong and secure connector that is fused into the brass stamping. This is useful when making earrings and pendants.
You would need to have a soldered bail in cases where you need to hang the brass stamping but do not wish to damage it by drilling holes into it.
Soldered bails do not come off unless you snip them with wire cutters or bend them back and forth enough times to break the join. In regular normal use they will never come off.
My personal view is that a soldered bail or ring makes your design look more professional.
